Rebecca Hoover, CFP®, CPA, CDFA®

Becky had more than 25 years of tax experience within a “big 4” tax consulting environment in both federal and international tax practices, mostly as Managing Director at KPMG. Her experience includes a wide variety of tax issues, including executive compensation arrangements, corporate financing, and the taxation of complex financial products, estate and gift tax, as well as financial modeling. In her role at McShane Partners, now Waverly Advisors, she advises clients of the firm on strategic tax planning, evaluates and negotiates executive compensation packages and advises on the setup and operation of family offices. She also leads the divorce practice for the Firm which supports family law attorneys with complex property divisions and tax implications of settlement offers, among others.

She attended the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science, with Honors, and a Master of Accountancy. She started her career in Atlanta with PricewaterhouseCoopers, working with high-net-worth individuals, estates, business valuations, and flow through businesses. Subsequent positions included tax planning and financial statement preparation work with start-up technology companies, financial institutions, and multinational corporations.

She is a registered CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and a registered Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) in Georgia and North Carolina. She holds her Series 65 license and is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, as well as a trained Collaborative Divorce Financial Neutral. Becky is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”). She has numerous publications in Tax Advisor Weekly, on a variety of tax topics, several of which were selected for publication in Thomson Reuters’ Practical International Tax Strategies and Checkpoint database. She has presented tax topics at conferences in Canada, the Netherlands, Singapore, and in the U.S. She served as the Regional Vice President of the International Fiscal Association. Additionally, Becky was an adjunct professor at Queens University and taught Financial Accounting.

Becky is passionate about community involvement and assisted in the formation and growth of the Chattahoochee RiverKeeper in Atlanta as well as Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center in Charlotte. She saw both organizations grow from start ups to organizations with multi-million dollar annual operating budgets. While working with Pat’s Place, she served in all roles on the Executive Committee. She also served on the Board of the Carolina Raptor Center, was co-chair of the Women on Boards 2020Charlotte Chapter and currently serves on the Board of the Plus Collective.
